Time Walk Tours uses the latest technology to turn a simple walking tour into a Canadian-first, where history comes alive for guests to step into & experience. What sets our tours apart is the use of mixed reality. At select stops, guests put on a comfortable headset and still see the real world around them—but now layered with historical scenes, characters, and environments that align with the actual setting, where guests can interact with them. Within these “Time Moments,” guests can look around, pick up objects, move through the space and make choices or actions that influence how that particular story unfolds. From lively market days and rum-running tales to political debates and working lobster boats, each mixed reality segment is designed to feel like a brief visit to another time before returning to the present and continuing the walk. Combined with live guiding, this creates a style of tour that goes beyond describing history and allows guests to actually be a part of it.

Common questions about booking Charlottetown experiences through SimilarTours
Summer (June-September) is peak season with warmest weather and all attractions open. Late spring and early fall offer fewer crowds and still-pleasant conditions if you don't mind cooler temperatures. Winter tourism is minimal and many tours run on reduced schedules.
Private guides here get booked solid in summer, so booking 2-4 weeks ahead gives you better availability and flexibility. Off-season you can often book closer to your travel dates, but check before you go since some operators have seasonal schedules.
Most people book multi-day or full-day guided tours rather than renting a car - your guide handles all the driving and knows where to stop. If you're staying only in Charlottetown itself, you can walk the downtown core, but to see the north and south shores (where the real appeal is), a tour or rental car is essential.
Private tours here are popular because the island's best experiences - quiet beach walks, oyster tastings, Anne of Green Gables sites - feel better without crowds. You also skip the wait times and can customize your route, which matters when you're splitting an island as small as this.
Most full-day north and south shore tours include driving to key scenic stops, guided commentary, and sometimes meal suggestions or stops at local businesses. Oyster tastings and merroir experiences are typically add-on options, not standard inclusions - check what's covered when you book.
Yes - many operators highlight family groups and run tours for up to 6 people in private vehicles, which works well with kids. Anne of Green Gables themed tours are built for families, though terrain and activity levels vary, so confirm fitness requirements before booking.
A full-day north and south shore tour covers the highlights in one go if you're short on time. Most first-time visitors book 2-3 days to include Confederation Bridge, Victoria, the eastern or western coasts, and time to breathe - check tour operators for multi-day itineraries that match your schedule.

Charlottetown is your gateway to Prince Edward Island's red-sand beaches, rolling farmland, and seafood heritage. Most visitors here book private guided tours to cover the island's best stretches - the dramatic north shore cliffs, the quieter southern coast, or themed routes like the Anne of Green Gables trail and Victoria by the Sea. Oyster tastings and merroir experiences are popular add-ons, and multi-day trips let you see the island properly without rushing between stops. Whether you go solo with a guide or bring a group, the scale here favors personalized exploration over bus tours.
