Oyster Bed, Canada
We'll pause at Oyster Bed Bridge, a tiny community named for the oyster beds lying on both sides of the bridge over the Wheatley River — look down and you can often see the beds and aquaculture gear in the water. This is the perfect classroom for PEI's shellfish story: the island grows about 80% of Canada's mussels, farmed on ropes suspended from longlines — no feed, no additives, just clean water — ready to harvest in about 18 months. Oysters are the older tale: wild Malpeque oysters, tonged by hand from the seabed and aged 5 to 7 years, were declared the world's tastiest at a Paris exhibition in 1900. Today most are farmed in floating bags and cages. I'll show you how to read the water like a farmer.
216 Court Ave, Rustico, Canada
Farmers’ Bank Museum & the Island’s Oldest House ️ Historic gems in North Rustico — a glimpse into early PEI life, banking, and one of the island’s oldest preserved homes by the sea.
130 Lantern Hill Drive, North Rustico, Canada
Driving through North Rustico, you'll spot one of PEI's most talked-about landmarks: Around the Sea, the world's first rotating house. This 5,000 sq ft round home sits on a giant steel platform and slowly rotates 360 degrees throughout the day, so each of its four guest suites takes turns facing the ocean. I'll point it out as we pass and share how it came to be — an idea sparked in Australia, engineered to turn for about 15 cents per rotation, and featured by the CBC, CTV and the National Post. A true only-on-PEI curiosity, best admired from the road.
North Rustico, Canada
North Rustico A classic PEI fishing village — colorful boats, fresh lobster, and a working harbour surrounded by red cliffs and coastal charm.

You'll taste their local jams — from classic strawberry to island originals like haskap jam and green tomato jelly — and browse the gift shop for delicious souvenirs: preserves, homemade fudge, loose teas and local crafts. A perfect 15-minute stop to stock up on edible gifts and taste PEI in a jar.
