Zanzibar Sandbank, Nyange & Bawe Snorkeling Boat Trip with Island BBQ

Your Experience

Escape Stone Town on a fixed meeting point boat trip that combines a tropical sandbank, Nyange and Bawe Islands, snorkeling, and an island BBQ.

Getting started

Arrive at the fixed meeting point in Stone Town at the agreed time for check-in. After a quick confirmation of your booking, you join your group and walk to the nearby boat for boarding. Once on board, the professional crew gives a short safety briefing as the boat trip begins toward the offshore sandbank.

What to expect

Tropical sandbank

Your first main stop is a remote sandbank set in the Indian Ocean, where white sand meets clear water in every direction. This is where you shift from the bustle of Stone Town to a quiet open-sea setting.

Features

• Time on the sandbank is your chance to swim, relax on the white sands, and take photos of the surrounding Indian Ocean scenery in every direction.

• A fresh BBQ lunch is prepared by the crew and served on or near the sandbank, along with seasonal tropical fruits and bottled drinking water.

• As part of the tour with fixed meeting point, all applicable boat and local fees for accessing the sandbank are already covered.

Nyange Island

The boat continues to Nyange Island, one of the offshore islets that showcases a different side of Zanzibar’s coastline. You spend unhurried time here, with the chance to enjoy the water and shoreline at your own pace.

Features

• From Nyange Island, you can enter the water for a snorkeling experience at nearby spots, where visibility usually allows you to see Zanzibar’s colorful underwater world.

• Snorkeling with equipment and life jackets is included, so you have masks, snorkels, fins, and flotation support available directly from the boat.

• Free time for swimming and relaxation is built into this stop, and all boat and local fees for visiting Nyange Island are included in your tour price.

Bawe Island

Bawe Island is your next island stop, known for calm waters and a more secluded feel compared to the mainland. The visit here rounds out the circuit of offshore locations on this trip.

Features

• Around Bawe Island, you can continue exploring snorkeling spots, watching for reef life as you move through the clear shallows and deeper patches.

• The professional boat crew stays nearby to assist with snorkeling equipment, manage life jackets, and oversee access to and from the water.

• This leg of the boat trip with a professional crew is also covered by all applicable boat and local fees, so there are no extra charges for the Bawe Island visit.

Stone Town and return

On the way back, you move from the quiet offshore islands toward the historic waterfront of Stone Town. This final segment links the marine side of the day with the island’s cultural center.

Features

• As the boat approaches Stone Town, you can observe the harbor activity and historic seafront buildings that frame the town’s authentic atmosphere.

• The remaining sailing time offers more time to relax on board, subject to sea conditions and safety, before everyone disembarks at the end of the tour.

• Gratuities and alcoholic drinks are not included, so you can decide on any tips or extra beverages separately from the core experience.
