What you'll do

Discover everyday life in Hokkaido as you shop with Kanae at a local market befo
re cooking authentic regional dishes together in her beautiful family home overlooking the mountains of Sapporo. Kanae will give you a market tour of the Sapporo Morning Market (closed on Wednesdays and Sundays) and Jogai Market adjacent to Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. Explore regional produce at these local markets with Kanae and purchase a few fresh ingredients to use in your cooking class. After the market tour, your host will drive you 15 minutes back to her home where you will enjoy your cooking and meal experience together. Join Kanae in her open kitchen to learn to prepare a traditional homemade Japanese meal. You can expect the cooking portion of your experience to last about 1-1 1/2 hours before you enjoy the meal you helped prepare together. Please Note: Your host's car can fit up to 5 people including the driver (max 4 guests), so if you are a group of 5 or more you will need to use a taxi and have it follow her car to her home, after meeting her at the station.

Pickup details

Meet your host Kanae in front of a convenience store called LAWSON. After you get off the train at Maruyama-koen station on the Tozai subway line, take Exit #4, go upstairs and meet your host at the store on your left.

Kanae’s car can accommodate up to 5 people total, including the driver (maximum 4 guests). If your group has 5 or more people, you will need to take a taxi and follow Kanae’s car from the meeting point at the station to her home.
