My philosophy is to provide customized flexible tours around Kyushu for smaller groups unlike the big tour operators. You will be traveling in either a Toyota Grand Hiace which seats 8 passengers, a Toyota Commuter Hiace that seats 10 passengers or a Toyota Microbus that seats a total of 15 passengers. They are all spacious with easy entry/ exit out of the vehicle and you will ride in comfort and safety. Each Port location in Kyushu has a dedicated 7 to 9 hour shore excursion with 6 to 8 attractions for each tour. Itineraries has been formulate to suit many of the major cruise lines arrival and departure times. Please feel free to contact me for a full detailed itinerary of the 5 ports that I service in Kyushu as well as the 10 ports in other regions of Japan. I can provide tours for all your port calls. Finally, only Port calls that have been cancelled or changed as a result of inclement weather conditions, will be accessed for a partial refund. Any other reasons will not be accepted!

Spend an exciting day in Fukuoka with your host and explore Japan’s gateway to Asia together. Take in some of the city’s main sites, like Fukuoka Castle or follow your feet to an obscure neighborhood. Take some time out to enjoy a meal at a yakai (street food stand) - we’d recommend the Hakata ramen, because well, it’s simply the best. Within 24 hours after booking you'll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your responses, you'll be assigned a like-minded host. Common questions about booking Fukuoka experiences through SimilarTours
Multi-day minibus tours (like the 2-day Takachiho or Aso runs) can fill quickly during peak seasons, so book at least 2-3 weeks out if you're traveling March-May or September-November. Day trips are more flexible, but checking availability a week ahead keeps your options open.
Yes, if you're visiting those mountain towns and gorges. The roads are twisty, public transport connections are spotty between smaller towns, and a driver lets you relax instead of puzzle-solving with transit apps. Solo travelers or couples often pair up to split costs.
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer the clearest skies and most pleasant driving conditions for minibus tours into the mountains. Summer is humid and can be crowded; winter sometimes closes higher elevation routes.
Both work. Takachiho, Yufuin, and Dazaifu are realistic day trips. But if you're going to Beppu or Kumamoto, staying 1-2 nights lets you soak in the hot springs and not spend half your time in a minibus. Check tour itineraries before you go.
Pick-up and drop-off from Fukuoka hotels or the station, a driver, and transportation to all listed stops. Meals, entrance fees to attractions, and hot spring stays are usually separate - confirm what's included when you book.
The city has a clean, easy metro system, local buses, and the Tenjin area is walkable. Your minibus tour operator will handle transport to trailheads and towns outside the city; once you're back in Fukuoka, public transit is straightforward.
Most are, though long minibus rides suit kids aged 6+ better than toddlers. Takachiho's gorge walks and Aso's crater viewing have some physical elements - check difficulty ratings before booking, and ask your operator about accessibility needs.

Japan
Fukuoka punches well above its weight as a jumping-off point for Kyushu's most dramatic landscapes. Most visitors arrive planning a few days in the city itself, then book their way out - minibus tours to the otherworldly gorges of Takachiho, the hot spring towns of Beppu and Yufuin, the volcanic calderas around Aso and Kumamoto. Day trips to Nagasaki and Dazaifu are popular too. You'll find a lot of private minibus tours here, which makes sense: the region's best sights cluster across winding mountain roads that aren't easy to reach by public transport. It's the kind of place where a tour operator does the heavy lifting so you don't waste time figuring out train schedules.
