Common questions about booking Lanzarote experiences through SimilarTours
October through April brings cooler, drier weather - ideal for sailing and hiking. Summer (June-September) gets hot and draws bigger crowds, but water temps stay warm for diving year-round. Check weather forecasts before booking water-based tours, as Atlantic swells can occasionally affect catamaran and yacht schedules.
Private yacht charters and fishing trips can fill weeks ahead during winter months, so book 2-4 weeks out if you're travelling then. Shoulder seasons offer more flexibility with 1-2 weeks' notice. Peak holiday periods (Christmas, Easter) require even earlier booking.
Yes, especially for volcano and cave tours - local guides know the island's geology and hidden routes that you'd struggle to find alone. Wine tours also benefit greatly from expertise about the local producers. You're paying for context and access, not just logistics.
Most experiences listed here include pickup (the highlights tour explicitly mentions per-vehicle pricing), so you don't always need your own wheels. For independent exploration between tours, check bus routes or arrange taxis - the island's compact enough that getting stranded isn't really a risk.
Yacht sails and catamaran trips work well for confident swimmers and sea-hardy kids. Diving courses typically start at age 10 with proper certification. Wine and fishing tours skew adult-oriented but aren't strictly off-limits - check activity details before booking for your family's comfort level.
Most private yacht experiences include drinks and snacks at minimum; many step up to gourmet or premium menus. Sunset sails often bundle the cruise with meal service. Always confirm what's covered before booking - food quality and portion size vary.
Not at all - courses here are designed for total beginners and take a few days. You'll learn in confined water first, then in the ocean. Check before you go for exact scheduling and what's covered in course fees.

Lanzarote rewards visitors who want to get off the main drag. The island's volcanic landscape and crystalline waters around Papagayo draw sailors and divers, while food-focused travellers book wine tours through the island's quiet wine regions and private fishing experiences with local fishermen. Private yacht charters dominate the booking calendar here - many come for sunset sails with gourmet spreads, others for pure sailing on catamarans. You'll also find volcano and cave tours that move beyond the obvious, plus diving courses for those ready to go deeper.
