Most travellers base themselves in Bandar Seri Begawan and pack their experience into a few days. You'll spend time at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque and the Royal Regalia, explore Kampung Ayer's water villages by boat, and if you've got a full day, head into Temburong National Park for the canopy walk. Many book guided tours - half-day city loops, private water village tours, or multi-day jungle stays - because they're easier than figuring out logistics yourself. The real Brunei is smaller and quieter than you'd expect, but remarkably rich if you know where to look.
