Our experience offers a unique opportunity to make Hoto, Yamanashi’s traditional noodle dish, from scratch near Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko.
Unlike a typical cooking class, guests knead the dough, roll it out, and cut the noodles entirely by hand before enjoying the meal they created themselves. Friendly instructors provide step-by-step guidance, making the experience enjoyable for beginners, families, couples, and solo travelers alike.
We also strive to accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and religious requirements whenever possible.
This hands-on cultural experience combines authentic local cuisine, Japanese traditions, and unforgettable memories of the Mt. Fuji region.
Guests can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere while learning a traditional recipe that has been passed down through generations in Yamanashi.
No cooking experience is required, and all ingredients and equipment are provided.
Your experience begins with an introduction to Suridane and its connection to Yoshida Udon, a famous local noodle dish known for its thick and chewy texture. Suridane is an essential condiment that adds heat, aroma, and umami to the noodles. You will learn about the ingredients used to make Suridane, including chili peppers, sesame seeds, and other seasonings. Unlike Shichimi, which is sprinkled directly onto food, Suridane is traditionally prepared with oil, creating a richer flavor and deeper aroma. With guidance from local staff, you will mix the ingredients and create your own original blend. Adjust the spice level and flavor to suit your taste, then package your handmade Suridane to take home as a unique souvenir. Suitable for beginners, families, couples, and solo travelers, this experience offers a fun introduction to Yamanashi’s food culture near Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Create your own Suridane and discover the flavors that have accompanied Yoshida Udon for generations.
Our store's exterior is that of a traditional Japanese house. There are two large banners hanging near the entrance.
