What to expect

Old Town Bologna mystery route

This experience turns Bologna’s historic center into your crime scene as you follow a mystery route through the central square, the Old University, and the city’s most famous marketplace. The city game is structured as a sequence of clues and story beats that you solve on foot using your phone.

Features

• The app-based self-guided city mystery game runs entirely inside the Questo app, so you read the narrative, receive location-based tasks, and input your answers directly on your smartphone. There is no physical tour guide, which means the story unfolds on screen and through the streets around you.

• Your mystery route through the central square invites you to uncover the stories behind Bologna’s main civic space while you hunt for details that help you progress the case. Solving each clue reveals another piece of the plot and directs you toward the next location.

• As you reach the Old University area, the game prompts you to learn about its puzzling history, tying real historical facts into the murder mystery. The app uses nearby landmarks as reference points for riddles and observations you need to crack to continue.

• At the city’s most famous marketplace, the investigation shifts to everyday life in Bologna, asking you to notice signs, stalls, and architectural features that link back to the suspect list in your story. This stop connects the commercial heart of the city with key twists in the game.

• Flexible start and pause times let you begin the city game whenever it suits you, then take a break for a coffee or meal and resume later from the same point. There is no time limit enforced by the app, so you control the pace of your experience.

• With 24/7 game availability, you can play any day of the week and at any hour, using the full flexibility to choose quieter streets or a livelier atmosphere depending on when you go. The experience is bookable at all times, which suits varied travel schedules.

• The approximate 2-hour city game duration helps you plan around other activities, while still allowing you to extend the outing if you pause along the way. Most players complete the full route in about 2 hours of focused play.

• Free for kids, this format lets families involve younger players in solving clues without additional per-child costs. Everyone shares the same device or switches between phones as they collaborate on the mystery.
