What to expect
Accademia Gallery
The Accademia Gallery is best known as the home of Michelangelo’s David, alongside a collection spanning paintings, sculptures, plaster models, and musical instruments.
• Stand before Michelangelo’s David, the gallery’s most famous work and one of Florence’s defining artistic landmarks.
• Explore the Hall of the Prisoners, where Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures provide a direct look at his approach to carving and the figures known as the Slaves or Prisoners.
• Visit the Gallery of Musical Instruments, which displays instruments connected with the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini and adds a different dimension to the museum’s collection.
• See original plaster models and other works that offer insight into the artistic process represented throughout the gallery.
• Use your Audioguide as you move through the collection, giving you commentary and context while allowing you to decide where to pause and how much time to spend with individual works.
Your timed entry lets you enter at the time assigned to your booking. Once inside, you can explore the collection at your own pace and focus on the works that interest you most. A typical visit can be completed in around an hour, although you can spend longer examining the exhibits.
The Audioguide supports a self-guided visit, so you can move between the gallery’s highlights without following a fixed tour route. Listen as you explore, pause when you want to examine a sculpture or painting more closely, and continue when you’re ready.
Your meeting-point assistance is available at the start of the experience, helping you navigate the initial part of your visit before you begin exploring independently. With your timed entry, meeting-point assistance, and Audioguide all covered, the experience is designed around a straightforward visit with flexibility once you are inside.
After exploring the gallery, your visit naturally concludes when you leave the museum. Re-entry is not permitted after exiting, so make sure you have seen the works you want to visit before you depart.
