For a simple visit, guests may use the elevated wooden boardwalk, which takes approximately 40 minutes round trip and is free during the operating season. The elevated wooden boardwalk can generally be visited independently during the operating season. Ground-trail access follows seasonal rules. From May 10 to July 31, the ground trails can only be visited with a registered Shiretoko Five Lakes guide. Guide fees are not included. Ground trails may close because of brown bear activity or other safety conditions.

Stop for coastal and mountain views or visit the Shiretoko Nature Center for information about the national park, wildlife safety and seasonal conditions. This is a flexible short stop and may be shortened if the Five Lakes visit takes longer.

Cruise routes and durations vary by operator and date. The standard itinerary is planned around a shorter approximately 90-minute route.

Enjoy mountain views from the road crossing the Shiretoko Peninsula between Utoro and Rausu. Shiretoko Pass is seasonally closed, usually from late October to early May. If the road is closed, this stop and the route to Rausu will be replaced with suitable stops on the Utoro/Shari side.

Enjoy free time around Rausu for a self-paid lunch, harbor scenery or a short walk.
