Common questions about booking Ginza experiences through SimilarTours
Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds than summer and winter. If you're planning a private guide tour to Mt. Fuji or Nikko, autumn gives clearer views and stunning foliage. December through February can be cold but brings fewer tourists to the major sites.
For multi-day excursions (Mt. Fuji, Nikko, Kamakura), book 2-4 weeks ahead, especially if you want specific dates or a luxury car. Day tours and sushi experiences can often be arranged with 1-2 weeks' notice, but popular omakase spots may need more lead time - check before you go.
Yes, especially for day trips outside Tokyo. An English-speaking driver handles navigation and parking logistics, letting you focus on temples, waterfalls, and views. For destinations like Mt. Fuji, Nikko, and Hakone, the convenience and local insights justify the cost over public transport, though trains work fine if you're budget-conscious.
Typically vehicle, driver, and itinerary planning; some include lunch or entrance fees. Read the tour description carefully before booking - inclusion varies widely. Ask specifically about meals, park entries, and any activities you want to prioritize.
Absolutely. Dedicated sushi etiquette tours exist precisely for this - guides walk you through how to eat, what to expect, and sushi history. Many omakase experiences welcome beginners, though sitting at a counter with a chef is more intimate than a group tour.
Yes, Ginza itself is walkable and flat. For day trips (Mt. Fuji, Nikko, Kamakura), a private car eliminates the need to navigate train stations with luggage. If mobility is a concern, mention it when booking - drivers can arrange accessible vehicles and help plan stops.
Most private tours let you choose which sites to visit and how long to spend at each. 'Make your own adventure' tours are explicitly customizable - you work with your driver and guide to shape the day. Discuss your interests when booking.

Japan
Ginza is Tokyo's glittering shopping and dining heart, where luxury department stores line pristine streets and three-Michelin-star sushi counters sit alongside contemporary galleries. Most visitors base themselves here to explore Tokyo and beyond - you'll find people booking private guided tours to Mt. Fuji, Nikko's temples, and the coastal temples of Kamakura, as well as immersive experiences like omakase at legendary sushi restaurants. The neighborhood itself rewards slow wandering, especially in the evening when neon reflects off the pavement, but it's the gateway to day trips that make Ginza so strategically useful for exploring Japan.
