Common questions about booking Split experiences through SimilarTours
May through September is warm and clear - perfect for sailing and swimming. July and August get crowded and hot. June, September, and early October offer better balance: fewer tourists, still reliable weather, and the water's warm enough to actually want to be in it.
Multi-day sailing trips and popular day-long island tours fill up 2-4 weeks ahead in peak season. Single-day experiences are more flexible, but booking a week or two out gives you better availability and lets operators confirm your group size and any meal preferences.
If you're heading to Bosnia or exploring down the coast, a private transfer with a guide is genuinely worth it - they'll stop at lesser-known spots and save you the navigation hassle. For getting around Split itself, you don't need one; the old town is tiny and buses are straightforward. Check before you go on current bus routes and schedules.
Most private day cruises include meals, snorkeling gear, and the boat itself. Longer sailing trips typically add breakfasts and dinners. Pickup from your accommodation in or near Split is common on private tours. Always confirm what's provided - water and snacks vary.
Absolutely. Family home lunch experiences, gentle island boat tours, and private yacht days work well with children. Make sure the operator knows your kids' ages when you book - they can adjust swimming stops and meal timing. Longer multi-day sails depend on how your family feels about rougher conditions.
The airport is about 25km away. A private transfer is the easiest option and takes 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Public buses run but require luggage juggling and walking in the old town. If you're already booking a tour, ask if they arrange airport pickups.
If your group's 15 people or more, private charters often cost less per person than booking separate spots on group tours. Split has boats certified for groups up to 42, which can work well for weddings, reunions, or friends traveling together. Get quotes from a few operators and compare what's included.

Croatia
Split is where Croatia's Adriatic coast really opens up. The city itself is compact and walkable, but most visitors come here to get out on the water - private yacht charters, island-hopping expeditions, and boat tours to Hvar and the Pakleni Islands dominate the booking calendar. You'll find day trips that mix swimming and snorkeling with proper meals on board, multi-day sailing adventures, and sunset cruises that avoid the tour-boat crowds. There's also serious overland potential: Bosnia's interior (Sarajevo, Mostar, Jajce) is a short transfer away, and longer road tours thread through Dalmatia's hidden corners down toward Dubrovnik. Families often book private home lunch experiences that feel less touristy than restaurant meals.
