Belfast is a city with serious character - industrial heritage, political history, and a creative edge that's only grown stronger in recent years. Visitors here mostly book private tours that radiate outward: the Giant's Causeway dominates the itinerary (those hexagonal basalt columns are worth the drive), but you'll also find people pairing it with Game of Thrones locations, falconry experiences, or multi-day loops that hit Dublin and the wider Northern Ireland countryside. Whether you're arriving by cruise ship or staying put, the tours tend to be bespoke and driver-led, which makes sense given the winding coastal roads and scattered attractions.

Your guide Richard worked as a Wildling extra on Game of Thrones® seasons 5, 6 and 7. He was right there on screen in epic episodes like Hardhome and he was caught inside the Bolton shield wall in the Battle of the Bastards! On this private car tour, Richard will drive you in comfort. With his tablet he'll show you which scenes were filmed in which location and behind-the-scenes and VFX breakdowns to see how each scene was made. Richard will take you north of Belfast to the real Iron Islands and all the locations north of Belfast along the Glens of Antrim and north coast. He has Iron Born costumes and swords as part of the tour at no extra cost. A private tour with Richard the Wildling is a day to remember, a genuinely authentic Thrones experience!

The North Antrim Coast tour is Northern Irelands main visitor attraction with hundreds of thousands visiting this amazing scenery every year and we at First Class Chauffeur Services Ni are one of the best at delivering it. Our driver guides are the best in the Buiness and have been doing these tours for many years and are very experienced and friendly and sometimes very funny. The Giants Causeway is our only UNESCO tourist attraction here in Northern Ireland and a must see with its strange hexagonal rock shapes and stories of Giants. The North Antrim Coast is stunning with its hills and valleys and of course 40 shades of green and it’s multi coloured sheep. This tour has many stops and photo opportunities and unlike large tour buses we can go the rural roads that larger buses can’t and we can also stop to look at things that are of interesting to you. Come and see where The Worlds most expensive TV Show was filmed Game Of Thrones.

Our Belfast Mural Tour is a private tour that is the perfect tour for those that wish to travel in privacy. But also in luxury. This private tour shows and tells the stories of Belfasts' history along with the breath-taking truths that held the city back for so many years. The tour is hosted in one of our Luxury Mercedes vehicles to create an experience in the best atmosphere possible! Belfast City was once one of the most divided cities in Europe especially from the 60's through to the early 2000's. With small changes in society there has been more inclusion from both sides and a cultural shift to a more relaxed view on the politics that once governed Belfasts' streets. The Belfast Mural Tour will bring you back in time to the era of differences. Your local guide will tell the stories and bring you to the areas that would often be seen as crime hotspots! These tours are filled with incredible insights and anecdotal stories from guides that lived in the very areas you visit!

The tour guide. I am George, and I have been taking guests on private tours of the coastline (where I grew up) for over 12 years. I love to meet new people, have a good laugh, and show off the stunning beauty of Northern Ireland. I have a lot of fun facts and interesting anecdotes on the areas we will visit. You will have a fun and memorable day with me. My schedule is very flexible, and we can adjust based on your needs and abilities. I can work around you and your timings if you need to start later or finish the tour earlier than planned. It's your tour, and I'm here to make it a great one! I look forward to meeting you soon.

To celebrate 10 years of filming in Belfast, Tourism Ireland created six giant stained glass windows, each depicting the most famous characters and scenes across all eight seasons of Game of Thrones®. A window was unveiled after each episode of the final season, with each window representing a different house of legacy: from House Stark, House Lannister, House Baratheon and House Targaryen to the White Walkers and the Iron Throne. The six windows form a 1.5 mile (2.5km) trail following Belfast's 'Maritime Mile', starting at AC Hotel by Marriott and ending at HMS Caroline, next to Titanic Studios which for 10 years was home to iconic sets such as the Great Hall of the Red Keep with the real Iron Throne! Your guides will all be extras from Game of Thrones® - a Stark soldier, an Iron Born reaver or a Wildling with real stories from the set. Please wear good footwear for walking and dress appropriately for the Belfast harbour weather!

Common questions about booking Belfast experiences through SimilarTours
The Giant's Causeway tours and multi-day options fill up quickly, especially if you're traveling in summer or have specific dates locked in. Book at least 2-3 weeks ahead to secure your preferred tour and driver. If you're flexible, you'll have more options.
A guide is genuinely worth it here. The roads to the Causeway and beyond wind through terrain where local knowledge saves time and frustration, plus a driver means you're not white-knuckling it on the left side of unfamiliar roads. You'll also get context on what you're seeing - the geology, the history, the Game of Thrones filming spots.
May through September gives you the warmest weather and longest daylight, which matters when you're chasing coastal views and hiking to waterfalls. April and October are quieter with decent weather. Winter is doable but shorter days mean less time outdoors on full-day tours.
Most shore excursion tours pick up directly from the cruise terminal - that's why 'cruise ship' Giant's Causeway tours are a popular category here. Check your tour confirmation for exact pickup details and timing.
Most private tours include transport, a driver or guide, and entrance to major sites (check before you go for specifics on each tour). Meals, activities like falconry, and premium experiences vary by package. Read the itinerary carefully - some tours are drivers only, others are fully narrated.
Yes - several tours offer the Belfast to Dublin route or vice versa, which takes about 2 hours. These work well if you're island-hopping and want a private driver handling the journey rather than wrestling with trains or buses.
Most private tours work for families, though very young children might struggle with long drives or hiking to the Causeway itself. Check accessibility details before booking - some sites have uneven terrain, and falconry experiences have age restrictions.
