Snowshoeing is beginner-friendly (unlike skiing), and your guide will help fit the equipment and teach simple walking techniques. Along the way, the guide will introduce the winter flora and fauna of the Japan Alps and explain how nature survives in harsh alpine conditions, while looking for tracks and signs of wild animals such as monkeys, rabbits, foxes, and Japanese serow. You will also learn about the special landscape of Kamikochi—an accidental masterpiece shaped by volcanic activity—and enjoy the rare silence of this famous valley during the off-season, completely different from the crowded summer months.
Meet at Matsumoto Bus Terminal at 7:20 AM (20 min before departure). Please be on time—missing the bus may cancel the tour. If you choose to drive and park nearby, it adds 1+ hour walking and a JPY 30,000 transfer fee applies.
