What you'll do

Using either your mirrorless or DSLR camera (tripod recommended), or camera phon
e, we will visit pre-scouted destinations and discuss how to capture your viewers' attention with impactful compositions, visual design and subject matter; then compose, photograph, repeat, in several locations. For those settings where you want people to feel how you felt in the moment, I recommend 14-35 mm focal length lenses. These wider lenses offer context of the landscape well. However, to best capture the moonrise you will want a telephoto lens. Many camera phones zoom in well for just such a moment. Your primary subject matter will be Joshua trees, monzogranite rock boulders and outcrops, a variety of cactus, moonrise and sunset. Drive time is not included in length of activity.

Pickup details

Enter the large parking lot immediately south of the Joshua Tree National Park visitor center. We will meet in the back of the lot. Your guide drives a red Subaru Ascent.
