Taking the easy climb of Monte Paterno means enjoying a day to live the Dolomites intensely, to enjoy the satisfaction of reaching a real rocky summit, to admire the places you already know from an unusual point of view, to see up close, touch and perhaps understand the horrors of the First World War. The mountains will no longer be a simple, beautiful background. They will be much more. We will explore their folds, we will lean on their solid rocks, we will smell their perfume and we will be carried away by their austere beauty. In short, we will enter into intimacy with them a little and with whom, over a hundred years ago, lost his life here.
renches and war tunnels, which will allow us to enjoy wonderful panoramic views but also to relive the atrocity of the First World War lived in the mountains. Armed with a helmet, harness, via ferrata kit and front battery, we will discover the emplacements built during the War that will give us magnificent 360° views of the Dolomites and beyond. The hike takes about 6/7 hours. It is suitable for people in good physical shape who are not afraid of emptiness and do not suffer from dizziness.
We will meet at the Chalet Lago d'Antorno where the participants will leave the car. You will reach the Auronzo Refuge (starting point of the excursion) with the car of the Alpine Guide. The cost of the road to reach the Auronzo Refuge (about € 30) is charged to the participants.
