Experience the differences in water, the fundamental ingredient of Japanese sake. An interactive plan with the sake brewery staff. A special explanation of the sake brewing process will be provided.
Obama is known as a "Water City" facing the Sea of Japan. Here at Obama Shuzo, we have newly created an experience focusing on water, the most crucial element determining the taste of sake. First, you will compare the flavors of three types of brewing water (shikomi-mizu) nurtured by Obama's nature (such as mountain underflow water, well water, and spring water). Following the water tasting, you will sample and compare the aroma and taste of Japanese sake brewed with each distinct water source. While listening to the Master Brewer (Toji)'s lecture, you will learn "Why does the sake change when the water changes?"—an experience unique to Obama. This program, which includes a brewery tour, allows you to deeply feel the profundity of water and the blessings of the land. Note: The brewery tour is a viewing of the facilities, not the actual sake production process. The images displayed may show the brewing process itself. SCHEDULE Welcome Drink: Water tasting (three varieties) Sake tasting tailored to each water type Mini-lecture by the Master Brewer "The Relationship between Water and Sake" Sake brewery tour End of the program
