Umbria, From the Waters to the Ruins: River Descent & Sunset Trek

Your adventure starts in the Valnerina, a slow-paced valley shaped by the river’s rhythm. After a quick briefing, you gear up and hop onto the raft with your group. Guided by an expert, you ride the crystal-clear waters, reading the currents and feeling the thrill of the journey unfold—like stepping into an action scene. As you glide downstream, lush forests, fresh scents, and the sounds of nature surround you, offering a deep, serene immersion in the beauty of the Valnerina. Once in the valley, the adventure shifts to an 8 km trek leading to the ghost town of Umbriano. Here, the ancient castle, with its still intact watchtower, dominates the landscape, perched on the rock and protected by dense vegetation. Abandoned in the 1950s, the village feels frozen in time with its ruins inviting you to imagine the lives and stories once held within these stone walls. At sunset, we pause for an aperitif with the mountains glowing gold and the valley opening in a breathtaking 360° view. With hearts full and eyes still on the horizon, we head home carrying the memory of an unforgettable day.
