Your guide takes you on a road trip to Zeeland, a part of The Netherlands consisting of islands and peninsula's. Zeeland saw heavy fighting in 1944. Zeeland Flanders, South-Beveland and Walcheren had to be taken by the Allies to be able to use the Port of Antwerp. It took a lot of ingenuity and hard fighting to overcome the strong German defenses here. We also pay a visit to the new Liberation Museum Zeeland. Besides some interesting military historic sites you will see a lot of the typical Zeeland countryside. Hardly recovered from the World War 2 damage and loss of life Zeeland was hit again in February 1953 by a big flood. We will return over some of the Delta Works. After this tour you will understand the motto of the Zeelanders: Luctor at Emergo, I struggle and emerge. 11-12 hours tour duration is travel time included.

Have you visited the Anne Frank House? Now you can follow her story to Westerbork Concentration Camp. Here we widen our scope from this one family to the 102000 Jews and 245 Roma deported through this camp to the death camps in Germany. The core of this tour is a 3 hour visit to the Westerbork Camp and its Remembrance center. Because of driving times to Westerbork we have added stops half way for interest and relaxation. Total tour time from start to finish is 8-9 hours. We start at Anne Frank's original house in Amsterdam and half way on the road to Westerbork we visit another hideout, the Hidden Village in the woods at Vierhouten. On the way back we take the route across the Closure Dam so you can see one of the great waterworks of the Netherlands.

In this tour we explore the story of the big storm of 1953 that hit the South-West of the Netherlands. The dykes which had been neglected in WW2 broke and large parts were flooded. Almost 2000 people died and the damage was extensive. After the flood the Delta Works prevent a disaster from happening again. Your guide takes you on a road trip to Zeeland, a part of The Netherlands consisting of islands and peninsula's. Zeeland saw heavy fighting in 1944. Zeeland Flanders, South-Beveland and Walcheren had to be taken by the Allies to be able to use the Port of Antwerp. It took a lot of ingenuity and hard fighting to overcome the strong German defenses here. We also pay a visit to the new Liberation Museum Zeeland. Besides some interesting military historic sites you will see a lot of the typical Zeeland countryside. Hardly recovered from the World War 2 damage and loss of life Zeeland was hit again in February 1953 by a big flood. We will return over some of the Delta Works. After this tour you will understand the motto of the Zeelanders: Luctor at Emergo, I struggle and emerge. 11-12 hours tour duration is travel time included.
