I very much care about the FRESHNESS of LOCAL ingredients, such as rice and seaweed harvested in Kobe, and I make sure that those ingredients are prepared with traditional Japanese tools.
Let’s make casual style hand-rolled sushi with local ingredients and explore an old town Nagata with traditional culture! -SCHEDULE- 10:30 Meet at Seven Eleven Nagata Jinja Mae 10:35 Visit a sake shop “YURIYA” specializing sauce. Did you know that Kobe is the birthplace of sauce in Japan? And Nagata is famous for KONAMON (flour-based dishes) such as Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki? They have hundreds of sauces for every KONAMON you are looking for! 10:50 Pick up seafood for sushi from “KISSO SHOTEN”, and check their seasonal recommendations! 11:00 Go up to the venue and enjoy sushi making. Freshly-milled local rice is already cooked in “donabe”, a traditional Japanese clay pot. You are going to: 1.Make vinegared rice for sushi. 2.Make toppings by chopping vegetables and rolling tamagoyaki (Japanese egg omelet). 3.Put some rice on your sea weed. 4.Pick your toppings, and roll them together with your hand! 13:00 After making and eating sushi, let’s explore the local shrine, Nagata Jinja with its history over 1800 years.
