This shark dive is an interactive research-based program now open to the public. It has been hailed as "one of the best programs for inspiring shark and marine conservation." Founded as a research program, One Ocean Diving opened to the public in an effort to help educate people about the reality of sharks and facilitate and empower people with firsthand experience on a shark dive.
Learn the latest shark research, biology, physiology, behavior, and specific body language from a marine biologist/shark specialist. Learn from the experts in the safest, most respectful way to interact with and enjoy sharing the water with these incredible animals.
Ocean Ramsey teams take you on a very educational and safe shark dive. On the ride out, your marine biologist and safety diver/divemaster will educate you about shark behavior, biology, physiology, our current research, and how to interact with sharks safely. Below is a list of some of the information we will cover: What species of sharks, pelagic fish, and whales should be looked for, and how to tell the difference between species. How to determine gender and the differences in behavior What specific shark behavior/body language to look for How the shark's biology and physiology affect their behavior How your behavior affects the shark's behavior How to deter or entice a shark or pelagic animal How weather and seasons affect the shark's behavior and how it can affect your specific shark dive The significance of MANO (sharks) in Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. How to contribute to or support the ID program for the Hawaii Shark Count.
