We will travel through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in Morocco, nestled between the rugged peaks of the High Atlas Mountains. As we drive along winding roads, you’ll be mesmerized by the stunning views of Berber villages clinging to the mountainside and the changing landscape as you descend towards the plains.
This fortified village, made from adobe and clay, has been the backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Take time to explore its narrow alleyways, ancient watchtowers, and panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

After a scenic drive through the Erg Chebbi desert, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of traditional mint tea at your riad, located near the sand dunes. Enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and breakfast included at the riad.
After breakfast, we’ll begin the day by visiting the Oasis in the desert, a tranquil and beautiful spot surrounded by palm trees and tranquil pools. From there, we’ll continue on to Khamlia Village, home to the Gnawa people, descendants of former slaves from sub-Saharan Africa. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about their history, music, and lifestyle as they perform traditional Gnawa music for you.
Experience their way of life as you spend time with the family, learning about their customs and daily activities. For lunch, you’ll have the chance to sample a delicious Berber pizza prepared by a local family in the desert. In the afternoon, we’ll take a trip to the historic town of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite Dynasty, the current ruling family of Morocco. Rissani’s souk (market) is a vibrant and bustling hub, where you can shop for spices, textiles, and handicrafts. You’ll also see the 360 ksar (fortified villages), a unique sight in the region.

You’ll reach the desert camp just in time for a mesmerizing sunset over the dunes. After breakfast at the desert camp, we’ll return to Merzouga on camelback, and then head out to explore Rissani, the historical gateway to the Sahara. Afterward, we’ll travel along the fascinating Draa Valley, known for its palm groves and Berber kasbahs that stretch along the valley floor.
