Common questions about booking Strasbourg experiences through SimilarTours
Yes - the Alsace region spreads across villages and vineyards that are awkward to reach by public transport, so a private driver or guide unlocks a day you'd otherwise spend on logistics. Wine tastings, castle tours, and multi-village itineraries all run smoothly with someone who knows the back roads.
Check before you go, but private full-day tours and sommelier-led tastings tend to fill weeks in advance, especially in peak season. Day trips to Luxembourg or Rhine cruises similarly book up - aim for at least a week or two ahead if you're visiting June through September.
Absolutely. Colmar, Riquewihr, and nearby villages are all reachable within 45 minutes to an hour. Many visitors book a full-day private tour covering 2-3 towns plus wine tasting, or hire a driver for a Luxembourg day trip from the city.
Private guided tours usually cover transportation, guide fees, and entrance fees to castles or sites. Wine tastings and sommelier-led experiences often include the tasting itself and food pairings - confirm what's covered before booking, as sommelier tours may add costs for premium selections.
Spring and fall offer mild weather and fewer crowds than summer. Winter brings a famous Christmas market in Strasbourg itself, though small villages and wine estates see fewer visitors. Check before you go for seasonal tour availability, as some experiences run year-round while others adjust with the season.
A private driver or airport taxi to Charles de Gaulle handles the 3.5-hour drive door-to-door, useful if you're combining Alsace with Paris. Otherwise, the train is faster and cheaper for the city-to-city leg.
Wine tastings and heritage walks suit older children and adults well. The fairytale Alsace tour may appeal to younger families. Check accessibility and specific inclusions with the tour operator before booking, especially if you have mobility concerns or very young kids in the group.

Strasbourg sits at the heart of Alsace, where half-timbered villages, castle-topped ridges, and world-class wine cellars define the landscape. Most visitors here hire a private guide or driver to string together the region's scattered treasures - charming towns like Colmar and Riquewihr, fortified châteaux, and vineyard estates where sommeliers pour you through tastings. You can drift down the Rhine by private boat, explore heritage on foot with a local, or road-trip between wine villages and fairytale backdrops in a single day. It's a place where getting the right person to navigate matters, since the best experiences live outside the city center.
