My tour, Enchanting Avignon: History and Legend, goes beyond the typical historical walk—it’s a journey through time, blending fascinating history with captivating legends. My goal is to bring Avignon’s medieval past to life, from the grandeur of the Popes’ Palace to the secrets hidden in the city’s ancient streets. What sets this experience apart is the balance between historical facts, engaging anecdotes, and local insights. You’ll hear the untold stories behind the city’s iconic landmarks, learn about its unique Provençal culture, and discover hidden corners that most visitors overlook. To ensure the best experience, I provide audio headsets so everyone can hear clearly, making it ideal for all travelers (you can bring your own 3.5mm earphone if you have any) Note: I am a local guide with a passion for history, not a professional historian. Access to churches depends on their schedules and is not guaranteed (Mondays particularly).

As a small company run by just the two of us, we personally guide every tour, taking care of every detail and sharing our passion, knowledge, and stories with each guest. Common questions about booking Avignon experiences through SimilarTours
Lavender peaks in July and early August when the fields are in full bloom - that's the showstopper time. Wine tours work year-round, but late summer through October offers warm days and the tail end of harvest activity. If crowds aren't your thing, June and September are sweeter bets.
For private guides and day trips during peak season (June-September), book 2-4 weeks out to get your preferred dates and guide. Outside peak months you'll have more flexibility, but securing your spot early gives you peace of mind.
Yes. The Luberon villages, wine routes, and Alpilles aren't served by great public transit, and the real magic - local winery access, timing village visits to avoid tour buses, insider stops - comes with someone who knows the region. You'll spend less time lost and more time tasting.
Most full-day trips include pickup from Avignon, a private driver or guide, 2-4 village stops (and time to walk around), and wine or lavender experiences depending on the tour focus. Meals, wine tastings, and entrance fees vary by tour - check before you book.
Absolutely - village hopping, wine region drives, and lavender fields work for mixed ages. Confirm walking pace and accessibility with your guide beforehand, especially if anyone needs accessible bathrooms or has mobility concerns.
The town itself is walkable, but to reach the vineyards, Luberon villages, and lavender zones you'll want a car or a guided tour. Renting and driving is an option if you're confident with European roads; most visitors book private drivers to handle the winding routes and focus on the scenery instead.

Avignon sits at the heart of Provence, a region that pulls visitors in with rolling vineyards, lavender fields that paint the landscape purple, and stone villages frozen in time on hilltops. People come here to taste Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines with a private driver, walk through the Luberon's quiet towns, spot the Alpilles mountains, and chase that quintessential Provençal light. Most visitors book private guides and day trips - the roads wind, the villages are small, and having someone who knows where to go (and why) makes the difference.
