Common questions about booking Perugia experiences through SimilarTours
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds than summer. Winter is mild but many smaller attractions have reduced hours, so check before you go.
Multi-day private tours (5-8 nights) typically need 2-4 weeks' notice. Day trips like the Gubbio horseback ride or Assisi olive oil tastings can often be arranged with a week or two notice, but booking earlier gives you more choice.
Perugia itself is walkable, but reaching nearby towns and countryside experiences means either renting a car or booking private transfers and guided day trips. Most food-wine and art tours include transport as part of the package.
Yes. The region's real appeal - cooking in a local kitchen, wine cellars in Gubbio, olive oil estates - almost always requires a guide or host. Group tours exist, but private tours let you move at your own speed and eat when you're hungry, not on a set schedule.
Most 5-8 night tours cover accommodation, meals at local restaurants or private kitchens, cooking instruction, and visits to vineyards or producers. Check your booking details for what transport and activities are included versus what costs extra.
Many private tours and day trips work fine for families - kayaking on Lake Trasimeno, horseback riding, and cooking classes appeal to older kids especially. Contact the tour operator directly to confirm age suitability and any dietary needs before booking.
Cooking labs, art-history group tours, and kayak excursions all work solo. You'll meet other travellers and locals naturally through meals and classes. If you prefer a private guide for day trips, expect to pay the full rate, but the flexibility is worth it.

Italy
Perugia sits at the heart of Umbria, a region that rewards slow travel and genuine curiosity. Most visitors here mix art-history walking tours with hands-on cooking classes, private wine tastings, and day trips to hilltop towns like Assisi and Gubbio. You'll find yourself in medieval streets one moment and a local's kitchen the next, learning to make pasta or cured meats before sitting down to lunch. Private guides and drivers are the norm, not the exception, which means you can tailor your pace to suit you. Lake Trasimeno offers a completely different rhythm if you want kayaking and countryside instead of churches and galleries.
