Honestly, I can’t make Maldives of my country, because it is not Maldives. But i can make an unforgettable journey through all contrasts of what it really is - beautiful panoramas and impressive soviet lost places, curious history and nowadays life in the country that doesn't exist, combining classic walk with forays for true explorers and adventurers. Day tour takes 5+hours. It is not Stalinism, we are very volatile where to go and what to do, but default route covers must-see USSR era and modern bits of Tiraspol, Bendery and optionallly Kitskany, and my favorite nooks and crannies that I discovered doing my sketches. I do postcards with my drawings and budget tours to top attractions and hidden gems of Pridnestrovie. Transfer from Chishinau or start in Tiraspol. Honestly, I can’t make Maldives of my country, because it is not Maldives. But i can make an unforgettable journey through all contrasts of what it really is - beautiful panoramas and impressive soviet relics, curious history and nowadays life in the country that doesn't exist, combining classic walk with forays for true explorers and adventurers. Tour takes ~ 2,5 hours. It is not Stalinism, we are very volatile where to go and what to do, but default route covers must-see USSR era and modern bits of Tiraspol, plus my favorite nooks and crannies that I discovered doing my sketches. The trip won’t be exhausting, not boring at all, we will have time to talk about all peculiarities of past and present of Transnistria, real name is Pridnestrovie ☭ You won’t be meeting a guide, you will be meeting a friend! - Anton Dendemarchenko -

Located on the banks of the Dniester River, Tipova Monastery stands out as a remarkable rock-hewn monastic complex, arguably the most impressive in Moldova and one of the largest in Europe. With multiple levels spread over a generous area, this monastery once housed over 700 monks in its hermitages, and today, there are hundreds of monk cells in the surrounding area. The origin of the monastic community dates back long before the establishment of the Moldovan feudal state. It is said that some cells were carved into the rocks along the banks of the Dniester as early as the 10th-12th centuries, serving as protection against barbarian invasions. The landscape in this area is simply stunning: the tranquil waters of the Dniester, steep cliffs concealing hundreds of cells and caves, the beauty of nature, and waterfalls. After exploring Tipova reservation we will continue our tour in a very picturesque village - Lalova, where wwe will take a lunch in a nice guesthouse - Hanul lui Hanganu.

Common questions about booking Chisinau experiences through SimilarTours
Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) offer pleasant weather for wine tours and countryside exploration without summer heat. Winter is cold and grey, while summer can be quite warm. Check before you go for any local events or harvest seasons if wine touring is your main focus.
Popular multi-day wine and countryside tours sell out 2-3 weeks ahead during peak season. For simple point-to-point transfers to Bucharest, Lviv, or Odessa, a week's notice usually works, but booking earlier gives you better driver and route options.
Yes - most visitors book private drivers for both day trips and longer tours rather than public transport. Roads outside the capital can be rough, English signage is sparse, and having someone who knows the wine routes and village stops makes the experience far smoother and more rewarding.
Private car with driver, visits to working wineries (often with tastings), stops in traditional villages, and stops at historical sites. Meals, accommodation, and entrance fees vary by tour - check the specific listing before booking to confirm what's covered.
Absolutely. Private transfers to Bucharest, Odessa, Lviv, and Kiev are commonly booked from here. Most take 4-8 hours depending on destination and border crossings. Book directly with a tour operator to avoid hassle with documents and timing.
Yes, specialized 5-6 day tours combine Moldova's main attractions with Transnistria, the breakaway region. These are almost always private or small-group tours with experienced guides who handle the logistics. Book well ahead and bring your passport.
Chisinau's city center is manageable, but countryside wine routes involve uneven terrain and older buildings. Check with your tour operator about specific accessibility needs before booking, as many rural stops have limited facilities.

Moldova
Chisinau is a laid-back capital where wine country, Soviet history, and Eastern European crossroads vibes collide. Most visitors here book private drivers and multi-day tours - either to explore Moldova's countryside wineries and villages, or to use the city as a jumping-off point for transfers into Ukraine, Romania, or the disputed Transnistria region. Wine, wine routes, and guided escapes into the surrounding landscape dominate the booking scene.
