Wachau’s vineyard-cloaked hills, fairytale castles, and riverside monasteries set the scene for a magical Austrian day trip from Vienna.

Ride in style from Vienna on a cozy, air-conditioned bus while your guide brings history to life, from Gottweig Abbey to the dramatic ruins of Aggstein Castle.
A breezy 1.5-hour boat ride from Spitz to Melk reveals Schonbuhel Castle, riverside hamlets, and Melk Abbey’s golden domes glowing above the valley.
Step inside Melk Abbey’s grand baroque halls and its library of ancient texts, then wander through its manicured gardens for breathtaking valley views.
Walk Durnstein’s cobbled streets, see the ruins where Richard the Lionheart was held, then enjoy Melk’s abbey, gardens, or a peaceful riverside break.
Fun fact: Melk Abbey hides a secret staircase linking the library to a concealed room where rare books were once protected from invaders.
