Your experience
Explore New Orleans School of Cooking and the French Quarter in one combined cooking demonstration and guided spirits walking tour.
Getting started
Begin at the New Orleans School of Cooking, where you check in for your New Orleans cooking demonstration class. After you are seated, the professional chef starts introducing the dishes you will watch being prepared. When the class ends, meet your guided spirits walking tour host outside the school of cooking before 4:15 p.m. to set off into the French Quarter.
What to expect
New Orleans School of Cooking
This first part of your experience takes place inside the New Orleans School of Cooking, where a professional chef walks you through the city’s rich culinary history. You observe each step rather than cook yourself, since this is a demonstration class only.
Features
• Learn how classic Louisiana dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo, and pralines are prepared while you explore the culinary history of New Orleans with your chef.
• Enjoy generous sampling of all items at the Cooking School so you can taste what you have just seen cooked, with coffee, iced tea, and local Abita beer included.
• Receive printed or digital recipes at the Cooking School so you can recreate jambalaya, gumbo, pralines, and more at home.
• Before you leave, make use of your discount at the General Store and pick up a custom spice packet that reflects the flavors used in the dishes you sampled.
French Quarter guided spirits walking tour
After class, your guided Cocktail Walking Tour moves through the French Quarter to some of America's oldest bars and restaurants, including a stop at Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub. Your guide shares stories behind the city’s cocktail traditions as you walk between venues.
Features
• Join a Guided Cocktail Walking Tour with 3-4 stops at local establishments, where your guide explains how New Orleans became known for its historic drinking culture.
• Sip two full New Orleans cocktails that are included as part of your tour while you learn the stories behind classic cocktails, including the Sazerac.
• Spend time inside Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub, taking in its atmosphere as one of the featured locations on your route.
• Relax knowing all taxes and service gratuities for drinks are included, with additional beverages available for purchase if you want to try something extra during the walk.
