Great Ocean Road Sunset Day Tour from Melbourne

Spend the majority of your journey travelling along one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal routes, with sweeping ocean views, rugged cliffs and changing scenery around every bend. Your expert guide will bring the Great Ocean Road to life along the way as you make your way towards the Twelve Apostles for an unforgettable sunset.

Take a short break in the relaxed seaside town of Anglesea as you reach the coast. Stretch your legs beside the picturesque Anglesea River and enjoy your first taste of the Great Ocean Road’s laid-back coastal atmosphere.

Stop at one of the Great Ocean Road’s most recognisable landmarks and capture the classic photo beneath the historic Memorial Arch. Your guide will share the story behind this famous road and the people who helped build it.

During the summer months, enjoy a relaxed lunch stop in the popular seaside town of Lorne. Take in the beachside atmosphere and choose from a variety of local cafés and restaurants for lunch at your own expense.

Head into the eucalyptus-covered Kennett River area and keep watch for wild koalas among the treetops. Your guide’s local knowledge will help you know where to look, making wildlife spotting an exciting part of your Great Ocean Road journey. Please note that we will not be visiting Kennett River from 20 July to 20 September 2026 due to its temporary closure. During this period, we will visit an alternative location for koala spotting.

Explore the dramatic cliffs, coastal lookouts and remarkable rock formations of Loch Ard Gorge. As you take in the scenery, your guide will bring the Shipwreck Coast to life with the story of the Loch Ard, wrecked here in 1878 with the loss of 52 lives.

Finish your Great Ocean Road adventure with its most iconic sight at the most memorable time of day. Watch the Twelve Apostles rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean as the evening light changes across the coastline, creating an unforgettable sunset experience.

Enjoy a short dinner stop in the country town of Colac, with time to purchase a meal at your own expense before continuing the journey back to Melbourne.
