Ghosts of Port Aransas Haunted Waters Boat Tour

Lydia Ann Lighthouse Standing watch over the waters since 1857, the Lydia Ann Lighthouse has guided sailors through the treacherous Gulf waters for generations. Isolated by darkness and surrounded by water, the lighthouse has become the subject of eerie local legends—from mysterious apparitions to unexplained encounters reported by former caretakers. Tonight, as you look toward its distant light, you’ll hear the chilling stories said to linger around this historic landmark.

Ghosts of the Dunes Among the dark dunes of Port Aransas, local stories tell of strange figures appearing beneath the moonlight. Some have reported seeing a mysterious black cat, while others describe a woman seemingly floating across the tops of the dunes. Shadows, fog, and moonlight may offer a perfectly natural explanation—but on a dark night, it can be hard to tell where the shadows end and the stories begin. Keep your eyes on the dunes… you never know what you might see.

Beneath the shifting sands of Mustang Island, forgotten history waits in the darkness. Long ago, the ship Lake Austin was deliberately grounded during a violent storm, and over the years, the island slowly swallowed parts of the wreck. But the sand moves, and what was buried can suddenly rise again. So when you walk along the quiet shoreline, remember—you may be standing above the remains of a ship, a lost artifact, or a story that the island has kept hidden for decades. Sometimes, Mustang Island doesn’t lose its secrets… it only buries them.

In 1919, Port Aransas faced a hurricane so terrifying that no ghost story was needed. With no radar, warnings, or electricity, families were left in the darkness as the Gulf rose, buildings shattered, and debris flew through the screaming wind. Imagine hearing nothing but the roar of the storm while searching for a safe place to survive. The hurricane eventually passed, but its memory remained. Port Aransas was rebuilt—but the island never forgot the night the Gulf came for it.
