Full Day Trek to Kuang Si Waterfalls, Remote Village

From Ban Long Lao, a Hmong and Khmu village, follow a 9 km trail through rice fields, orchards and forested hills. This moderate route reaches a high point of about 800 m, with roughly 300 m of elevation change, and includes lunch at a family-run restaurant beside a forest spring. Alternatively, travel by boat and car (about 90 minutes) to Ban Nong Heo, a Khmu village, and choose a gentler trail with about 150 m of elevation change. The walk is approximately 5 km if you stop for lunch in Ban Thapene, the village at the entrance to Kuang Si Falls, or 9 km if you continue to the same forest-spring restaurant as the Ban Long Lao route. Both options include time to explore Kuang Si Falls, swim in designated pools and visit the bear rescue centre, followed by a visit to Kuang Si Heritage Rice Farm. Return to Luang Prabang by Mekong sunset cruise, arriving around 6:30 PM, or choose a minivan transfer for an earlier arrival around 5:30 PM.
