Your experience
This full day combines cycling and walking through Hell's Gate National Park with a relaxed boat ride on Lake Naivasha.
Getting started
Your guide collects you from your Nairobi hotel for the roughly 90km, 2-hour drive to Hell's Gate National Park.
What to expect at Hell's Gate National Park
Hell's Gate is one of the few national parks in Africa where visitors can walk or cycle freely among wildlife, since it has no resident predators.
Features
• Cycle past Fischer's Tower, a 25-meter volcanic spire, early in the route, with giraffe and zebra often visible nearby.
• Continue toward the Central Tower, where the valley opens up with views of Mount Longonot and Lake Naivasha.
• If you head toward the Lower Gorge, a local guide is required there specifically, due to past flash flood risk.
• Round-trip cycling to the gorge area covers around 16 to 17km; the return leg is the part most casual riders feel.
• Wear closed shoes even though you're cycling, since the terrain includes loose gravel and dusty, uneven patches.
What to expect at Lake Naivasha and the Rift Valley viewpoint
After the park, stop at a viewpoint over the Great Rift Valley before heading to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride.
Features
• Photograph the Rift Valley from the viewpoint stop before continuing to the lake.
• Board a boat on Lake Naivasha to see hippos, fish eagles, and other birdlife from the water.
Your guide returns you to Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening.
• Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
• Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point.
• Please check your final voucher for the starting point details & specific instructions.
