From Chiang Rai: 3 Temples, Golden Triangle Tour, Tea Plantation

The popular temple in Chiangrai,place must visit.Wat Rong Khun, better known as the White Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Pa O Don Chai, Mueang District, Chiang Rai province, Thailand. Situated outside the city of Chiang Rai, the temple attracts a large number of visitors, both Thai and foreign, making it one of Chiang Rai's most visited attractions.

The Hall of Opium at the Golden Triangle Park houses several sections to be explored and various exhibitions to be contemplated. The Hall of Opium Museum is a combination of multimedia and exhibition to make learning more fun. Aiming to educate people about opium, this exhibition portrays every angle of the story, starting from the history of the Golden Triangle, the origin of opium, the opium war, opium warlords, drug smugglers, opium effects, the battle against opium and poppy growing, to rehabilitation of living conditions of the people who live in the central of the Golden Triangle, the former worldwide infamous drug trading zone. The exhibition features the following zones: Entrance Zone: A 137-meter-long dark tunnel towards an artificial poppy field in the Hall Zone. Hall Zone: An artificial poppy field, where you can learn about various species of poppy flowers. Opium in Siam Zone

Longneck Karen Village Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in. It is believed that they scattered all over the area and co-live with other minority group that armed so that they can be protected.

Golden Triangle The wonder of Golden Triangle is the visit to 3 countries; Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, in one place. It is 9 kilometres north of Chiang Saen along the Mekong riverside road. Sop Ruak is the place where Mekong River, the border between Thailand and Laos, meets Ruak River, the border between Thailand and Myanmar. In the past, Golden Triangle was the world's large source of drug trafficking owing to its privileged location attached to many countries. However, it is currently taken good care of and becomes a popular tourist attraction. From the viewpoint, the tourists will find the land that connects the three countries, surrounded by long and calm waterway. There is boat rental service at Sop Ruak so that the tourists can admire the view at Golden Triangle. The trip takes only 20 minutes. No boat riding for this trip.

Is located in the Rong Suea Ten community, Rim Kok subdistrict. It is a Temple that was restored by Mr. Phutta Kabkaew or “Sala Nok”, a Local artist of Chiang Rai and a student of Achan Chalermchai Kositpipat. The temple is unusually beautiful with its unique applied arts by using a shade of blue and architectural beauty from a stucco artist. In the Ubosot, in addition to having a beautiful, unique design, there are also murals depicting the story of the Buddha’s life. It also enshrines Phra Phuttha Ratchamongkhon Bodi Trailok Nak, which means “the auspicious majestic Buddha of three worlds”. The image is very attractive and is 6.5 metres tall and has a lap width of 5 metres. Inside the image contains 88,000 Phra Rot Lamphun images, and there are rings of gold and silver plus many valuables buried under the Buddha image. In addition, the area of the head contains the Buddha’s relics, which was bestowed by Somdet Phra Sangharaja Chao Kromma Luang Vajirananasamvara.

Black House The Black House is a complex of 40 buildings, most made of dark teak wood, set in large, beautiful gardens. In Thai known as Baan Dam, meaning Black House, the buildings house a collection of paintings, sculptures, silver and gold items, animal bones and skins. 40 Houses Baan Dam is the work of Thai artist Thawan Duchanee, who started the project in 1975 and lived in several of the houses. On the grounds are about 40 houses in various shapes and sizes built from wood, concrete, brick, glass and terracotta; most of them are in black. The Black House is set in large grounds with trees, rock gardens and sculptures.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in northern Thailand is the stunning Chui Fong Tea Plantation, which is especially attractive at the end of raining season and the beginning of winter. Now there are two branches of the plantation in Chiang Rai that are available to visit. The first one is in Mae Chan district and the second one is in Mae Fa Luang district. This time we are talking about the one in Mae Chan district. This place is not only well known for its delicious tea but also the picturesque terraced tea fields. The scent of tea, when enjoyed with the plantation’s desserts and stunning setting, is a perfect combination. Chui Fong Tea Plantation is definitely one place in Chiang Rai that that you simply cannot miss!
