What to expect
Tuscan countryside drive in a vintage Fiat 500
This is an intimate afternoon tour aboard a vintage Fiat 500 through the rolling hills of Chianti. The route is designed as a scenic drive through the Tuscan countryside, with time to pause and take in the landscape.
Features
• You travel in a vintage Fiat 500, a small classic vehicle with limited space and original features such as manual windows and no air conditioning, which makes the drive feel like a period journey through Chianti.
• A professional local driving tour leader guides the convoy, sets the route, paces the afternoon, and shares context as you move between viewpoints and the vineyard.
• The drive includes a scenic route through the Tuscan countryside, where you cruise past the rolling hills of Chianti and experience the blend of Italian charm, vineyard views, and characteristic rural landscapes.
• There are photo stops at panoramic viewpoints so you can capture photos and pause to look out over the Chianti Classico area before continuing toward the vineyard.
Vineyard in Chianti Classico
Midway through the afternoon, you visit a local vineyard in the Chianti Classico area. Here, the focus shifts from driving to tasting and relaxing among the vines.
Features
• Your visit to the vineyard in Chianti Classico includes time among the Chianti vines, where you can see the rows of grapes that give this region its reputation and enjoy the quieter pace of the countryside.
• An aperitivo is served at the vineyard, so you can sit among the vines and enjoy a pre-dinner tasting session that reflects local habits without needing to plan anything yourself.
• You savor a selection of regional products, including Pecorino, Parmigiano Reggiano, cured meats, and other local specialties, presented alongside the aperitivo and highlighting typical flavors from the area.
• After the vineyard stop, the relaxed sunset drive back to the starting point closes the loop, as you rejoin the route and return either to the Tuscany on Wheels office or the Bivio Volterra bus stop while the light fades over the hills.
