ARTIS-Micropia is the first and only museum in the world dedicated entirely to microbes. Located next to ARTIS-Park, it is about 10 minutes from Amsterdam city center.

Learn about the microbes that live in the air, on your skin, and in your stomach. See how they are used in food production, support human health, and contribute to natural ecosystems.

Live microbes can be viewed through microscopes and interactive installations, alongside stories about the work of laboratory technicians.

See what lives in a drop of water at the Water Lab. Three aquariums contain water from a farm ditch, the sea, and Amsterdam’s canals. Use the microscopes to examine the microbes living in each type of water.

Pets are not allowed. Assistance dogs are permitted but must be registered at the ticket office. Bring the dog's training identification card.
