Private day tour to Abu Simbel from Aswan

Colossal standing statues of the king line the main hall, leading to the shrine where four deities sit: Amun Ra, Ra Horakhty, Ptah and a deified version of Ramses II. The relocation of the temples was a historic event in the 1960s. At that time, the temples were threatened by immersion in Lake Nasser when the High Dam was built. They were successfully relocated to a location 60 meters above the cliff where they were originally built.
