For 1,000 years, Nuremberg has played a decisive role in Germany's fortunes. From Holy Roman Emperors to the Renaissance, from the Third Reich to modern Bavaria, this city has seen empires rise and fall. You’ll hear the city´s amazing history, admire the colorful Marketplace, and learn where to get the famous Nuremberg sausages and "Red Beer". Explore the Old Town, take in the view from the Imperial Castle, visit the beautifully restored gothic Church of St Sebald, or just relax over lunch and soak in the atmosphere.
After the break, we'll show you the darker side of Nuremberg's history at the former Nazi Rally Grounds. Here Hitler's architect Albert Speer planned and began to build the "Temple City of the Third Reich". Here the Nazis paraded for the saluting masses and propaganda films, creating some of the most infamous images in history. You'll stand in the middle of some of the largest Third Reich ruins in the world as your guide explains how the city confronts this history today
