The itinerary begins in Melfi at the majestic Melfi Castle, a symbol of Norman and medieval power, featuring imposing towers and fortified walls.
Inside, visitors can explore courtyards, halls, and historic corridors, as well as the National Archaeological Museum Massimo Pallottino, which houses artifacts from Lucanian and Roman populations, including weapons, ceramics, and funerary goods. Particularly noteworthy is the marble sarcophagus from Rapolla, decorated with reliefs depicting deities and the figure of the deceased.
The tour continues to the Belvedere dei Normanni, offering stunning views over the Vulture area and surrounding hills and landscapes.
It then proceeds to the Cathedral of Saint Maria Assunta, a blend of Romanesque and Baroque styles, with richly decorated interiors and artworks. Nearby stands the Episcopal Palace.

Characterized by a rounded arch made of stone and brick, it features typical elements of military architecture such as narrow slits and solid structures. Once a main entrance used by merchants and travelers, it still preserves the historical charm of the past.
