Cawder Ghyll was the location of the start of many Skiptonian’s lives, as it was the site of a maternity hospital until the 1960s. At the top of the same hill can also be found a Bronze Age enclosure, probably for the corralling of animals, however bearing some of the characteristics of a hill fort.
