Bow & Arrow Canyon offers a more open-style canyoneering experience just outside Moab, blending desert scenery with technical adventure. Along the route, you’ll pass petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, natural arches, and expansive canyon views while moving through terrain most visitors never experience.
Because this is a private trip, the pace and instruction are tailored to your group. Whether it’s your first time rappelling or you already have experience, the goal is to create a day that feels safe, enjoyable, and never rushed.
Rappels are managed with clear instruction and backup systems throughout the route, allowing you to focus on movement, confidence, and enjoying the canyon itself.
This half-day route covers roughly 3 miles through open canyon terrain past petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, and views of the La Sal Mountains. After a short hike to Longbow Arch, you’ll get oriented with the gear and go over the basics of rappelling before descending a series of four rappels, including a free-hanging descent of over 100 feet. No prior experience is required. Each rappel is set up with clear instruction and guide-managed backup systems so you can focus on movement and enjoying the experience. The route includes uneven terrain, light scrambling, and a steady hiking pace. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, but most first-time canyoneers do well.
We'll meet at the trailhead near the Williams Bottom Campground, about 15 minutes from downtown Moab.
