The 100 + mile monocline is the longest in the western hemisphere. This “step-up” or warp in the rock layers showcase dramatic geological formations which one must see in person to truly appreciate the beauty which is why we strongly recommend this tour. Each tour starts by first passing completely through the monocline of Capitol Reef from one side to the other. Much of the drive is relatively smooth, while other parts are slow and rough getting to a few of these iconic spots. The drive from Tooele to the Onaqui HMA will take approximately 45 minutes & once we arrive at the range, there are various locations where we will begin to look for the herd grazing, resting or coming to/from the watering holes. Depending on where the horses are located, there will be walking involved, so close toed shoes are required, and dressing in layers is also recommended. During your time in the field you will receive one on one photography instruction to help you improve your technical skills as well as your ability to creatively frame an image. Please bring your cell phone and/or camera but no external light sources or drones are allowed. After spending over 3,000 hours documenting these horses I love to share everything I've learned to make your experience all the more unique and special.
