The journey begins with a short transfer to the giant statue of Chinggis Khan on horseback. While the bikes are being prepared, enjoy a panoramic view of the vast grassland from an observation deck on the horse’s head. Along the way, you’ll glimpse a way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries — large flocks of yaks, sheep and goats grazing freely, and the round felt tents of local herders scattered across the landscape. Hustai National Park is home to the Mongolian wild horse known as Perzevalski’s horse (Takhi) with a unique landscape that features mountain and steppe. In the afternoon, we visit the information center and learn familiar with the national park and wild horse. Take a short drive and walking to see the horses in their natural habitat. Early in the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up from your location and drive 70 km east of Ulaanbaatar to the world’s largest equestrian statue, a 40 m tall stainless-steel statue of mounted Genghis Khan. Upon entering the statue complex, there is a small museum, souvenir shop, and a lift that takes you to flights of stairs upwards to the top of the horse’s head allowing you to get a panoramic view of the surrounding grasslands. While your visit, our guide will assemble the bikes so we can start cycling. Although near the capital of Mongolia, you will get a chance to cycle up and down on hilly steppe dirt road through vast valleys that stretch beyond the horizon, pass by animal herds, and visit modern nomadic families for a chance to experience their unique lifestyle. From here we assemble the bikes onto the support vehicle(s) and head towards Ulaanbaatar.

During your four-day nomadic experience, you will enjoy a taste of Mongolian life. Your journey will begin as you travel by train across the vast Mongolian steppe from Ulaanbaatar to Shaamar soum, accompanied by your native guide. Once in Shaamar soum, you will take a short car ride to the site of your nomadic homestay, just outside of Zuunburen. For the next two days, you will experience Mongolian life and culture like it has been for hundreds of years through activities such as milking cows, making dairy products, riding horses, and exploring the surrounding scenic countryside, including the natural beauty, Sukhanii Hutul. Each night, you will return to the ger you will share with your local nomadic family and enjoy local cuisine. At the end of your adventure, you will get one more bit of Mongolian life as you once again cross the vast steppe by night train to return to Ulaanbaatar.

Meet with your guide and drive to the ruins of Manzushir Monastery on the edge of Bogd Khan mountain range. From there we take a 3-4 hour hike on a trail of moderate difficulty through mixed forests and alpine meadows to 2256m Tsetsee Gun peak, the highest point of the mountain range. We have a picnic lunch on the peak with scenic views of typical Siberian forests in the background before heading back down. We visit the monastery complex which was originally built in 1733. It was completely destroyed during anti-religion campaigns of 1930-ies with just the main temple remaining to these days. But apart from it we will see a few sections of shattered walls, foundations, stone terraces and some stone niches in the cliffs. The main temple building was recently been renovated and now serves as museum. We return to Ulaanbaatar in late afternoon.
