On this tour we will visit the Mosque of Gjin Aleksi and the Islamic Complex of Xhermehalla The Mosque of Gjin Aleksi was built in the 15th century and is located in the village of Rusan, just outside Delvinë, Albania. It is considered a Cultural Monument of Albania, as is the Islamic Complex of Xhermehalla. The Islamic Complex, located in Delvinë, was built in 1682. At the Complex you will find the King Mosque built at the end of the 15th century, a Hammam, built at the beginning of the 16th century, and the mezzanine of the complex, built in the 17th century. There is additional time allotted, in this tour, to enjoy a break or visit a market to get snacks or tea/coffee.

On this tour we will take a beautiful hike to visit the medieval Kameno Monastery, built in 630. The Monastery is located 2 km. east of Delvinë, in Voskopoje, Albania. Just beyond the monastery, down a dry river bed, there is a fresh water source and also a great shaded area to enjoy a picnic, a fire, or rest from the hike. As there will be spare time planned to enjoy a break. If you would prefer to enjoy the hike, without carrying additional items for your break, a stop at a well known country restaurant can be arranged (note: the meal is not included in your tour price). We recommend you wear sneakers or hiking shoes, as well as clothing you can remove and a good sunscreen.

The fascinating old centre of Gjirokaster is on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Largely medieval, with some lovely architecture to admire, reflecting the town’s wealthy past, it is built on a hill overlooking a valley and mountains. This interesting museum will give a good impression of the way of living in Albania during the Ottoman period. On our way back to Saranda, we will pass from the national park Syri I Kalter. In this peaceful forest, we will walk (15 min) to the crystal clear spring called Blue Eye, where 900 m3 water per minute is coming from deep down the earth. If time permits, there will be a short coffee break at the restaurant next to the fast streaming river in the park, before heading back to the port of Saranda.
