We drive for about 2 hours to Landeyjahöfn, where we board the ferry bound for the Westman Islands. The 45 minute boat cruise unveils a panorama of the islands' unique cliffs and slopes. We will spent about 5 hours on Heimaey, the largest and sole inhabited island of the archipelago, born from underwater volcanic eruptions. We will explore the islands' volcanic heritage at the Eldheimar Museum. We will venture to Stórhöfi, Europe's windiest point, which offers unparalleled vistas of the Westman Islands. Here, you might meet curious sheep and, during their summer visit, catch a glimpse of playful puffins fluttering around (usually between the end of May and the end of August).
