This route makes a circuit to the west of Ronda, passing through rural countryside and through two small, sleepy white villages. It is an off-road version of our Leisure e-bike ride: Cueva del Gato & Montejaque, which means less road and more tracks and paths. From Ronda we head down into the valley directly below the town, for great views up to the main Puente Nuevo bridge. We climb out of the valley and then drop down again to the Guadiaro river, where we make a short stop at the Cueva del Gato, “Cat Cave”. This is a local beauty spot, with a small waterfall and beautiful pool of crystal clear (but very cold!) water. We climb steadily up into the mountains, through the village of Benaojan and on to Montejaque, where we usually make a quick coffee stop on the village square We continue down through farmland into the valley of La Indiana before using trails which head up through pine-forested hills to climb back to Ronda.

This popular walk takes us through beautiful Andalucian countryside, via a local beauty spot and on to finish at the renowned Molino del Santo hotel restaurant. We leave Ronda down an old cobbled road beside the gorge and enjoy spectacular views up to the town on its clifftop plateau and the Puente Nuevo bridge. We then head out through open countryside towards the Guadiaro river and the Cueva del Gato or "Cat Cave", a local beauty spot named for the shape of the natural cave mouth. The mountain behind contains a network of water-filled tunnels and caverns. Each day thousands of litres of crystal clear water exit the cave via a waterfall to create a stunning, blue water pool. Or choose to stay at the hotel for a delicious, leisurely lunch and return to Ronda by train or taxi.
