Covent Garden's history is woven into the very fabric of London's identity. On this self-guided walking tour, you'll discover the surprising origins of this world-famous district, uncovering a past filled with bustling markets, theatrical scandals, and revolutionary policing innovations that lie hidden beneath the touristy veneer. You’ll explore the elegant piazza designed by Inigo Jones in the 1630s as London’s first formal square, and wander through the market building where fresh produce was traded for over 300 years. You’ll find out how the aristocratic vision for the area gave way quickly to a vibrant market culture that defined Covent Garden for centuries. I’ll tell you how the area transformed from daytime marketplace to London’s most notorious red-light district after sunset, with taverns and brothels earning it the nickname the “Square of Venus.“ You’ll also hear stories about famous actors, writers, and musicians who lived and worked here, from Charles Dickens to Mozart.

Back in the 1600s, Londoners would gather to witness a very particular form of public entertainment. Hushed crowds would wait in anticipation for an offender to meet their end at the hands of an executioner. On the 30th January 1649, it was the reigning monarch, King Charles I, who had an appointment with the man who would end his life. This self-guided audio tour charts the life and death of this ill-fated king, taking you to some of London’s most famous and iconic sights including: • Henry VIII’s hunting lodge-turned-royal palace • One of London’s most picturesque royal parks, once home to an elephant • The abbey where all kings and queens have their coronation • The ancient hall where Charles I was put on trial • Henry VIII’s favoured jousting ground • The remains of what was once Europe's largest palace This walking tour can be enjoyed on location or even virtually at home with VoiceMap's Continuous Play function which disables the GPS playback.

This is a unique week of tours to mark what would have been Freddie Mercury's 80th birthday. We will visit many sites associated with Freddie from his family home in Feltham, to Garden Lodge where he lived and tragically died in 1991. I will tell many stories about Queen, one of the greatest rock bands in the world. We will visit several iconic sites, where the band lived, socialised recorded and played. I have been a Queen fan for over 50 years and count myself lucky to have seen them in concert in 1986. This is an all day tour to cover a swathe of Freddie and Queen related locations. I intend for us to have lunch at the Champion Pub where it is said Freddie wrote 'We are the Champions" (Incidentally I am sceptical about this) During our tour as we commemorate Freddie's life I will show you a number of clips of Freddie and the band performing. We will be using public transport. A good level of fitness and walking shoes are required for this epic Queen journey

In this tour, we are aiming to give you more information about Stonehenge as well as Woodhenge in order to reveal the strong connection between two ancient sites. In the Neolithic period, some 5,000 years ago, Stonehenge evolved from a simple bank and a ditch into a very sophisticated rock circle on a midsummer sunrise axis. Stonehenge may have been an astronomical observatory or used in sacred, sun-like, or even death rituals. Salisbury might be one of the most beautiful heritage towns of England and only 20 minutes away from Stonehenge. It’s a jackpot to visit both destinations in English culture. Magnificent Salisbury Cathedral is surrounded by historical buildings and museums in the spectacular Cathedral Close. You will marvel at the magnificent Gothic architecture and explore this living church's past and present. You will also note that the 750th anniversary was in 2008 when you look at the best-preserved original Magna Carta. Get ready for a true Stonehenge experience with us!
