Looking for wild plants and mushrooms in the wilderness is more fun than you think. Learn the basics of foraging from a passionate guide. Together, you will discover what to avoid, what you can pick and what you must not touch. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and together, you will go in the forests around Brasov in search for wild mushrooms, plants and forest fruits. Hiking and foraging isn't easy, depending on the terrain, so keep in mind that you have to be fit in order to walk around the forest, sometimes on steep terrain, loose rocks or mud. Depending on your schedule, the tour can take between three to six hours. You will decide when you want to stop, together with your guide. In the end, you will be dropped off at your accommodation. The Unirea Mine is the result of the excavation of 2.9 million m3 of salt deposit that created cavities with gigantic volumes: 14 rooms with a trapezoidal profile of approx. 80,000 sq m. In the Unirea Mine (Salina Slănic Prahova), visitors can decipher the millennial history of the Roman people by admiring the salt bust of Burebista, and in the “Hall of Genesis” they can admire the salt sculptures representing the two great leaders, Decebal and Trajan, surrounded by elements specific to the Dacian and Roman peoples. Visitors can also admire a bas-relief of the great ruler Mihai Viteazu and the bust sculpted in salt of the “star” of Romanian poetry, Mihai Eminescu The beginnings of the history of the salt mine date back to around 1685, the year in which the nobleman Mihail Cantacuzino realized that there was a salt deposit in the Slănic Prahova region and so, wanting to open a mine, he bought the Slănic estate. The Varghis Gorge is a protected natural reserve of unique beauty. It was formed by the Varghis river digging into the lime stone, creating impressive high walls and caves. While it is one of the most beautiful gorges in the Eastern Carpathians, along with Bicaz gorge, very few people actually have knowledge of it, which means that it almost never gets crowded. The trail crosses 9 bridges over the river and you have access to 3 caves out of more than 250 that are found here. The abundant flora includes beech, oak, birch, alder, ash, hazelnut and many more. The fauna is represented by various types of wild trout and other fish, small reptiles and amphibians, a wide array of small mammals from mustela family, wild cat, roe deer, wild boar and dozens of species of birds, including the lesser spotted eagle. This is a very picturesque ride so just lay back and enjoy the natural landscape and rural life.

Back then, this church was more than just a place people would go to pray in. It was also used as a refuge for people in need. Next is the Rasnov Citadel. It’s a very impressive Citadel build on top of a hill. It’s main purpose used to be of defense. We end the day with a lovely walk around the most well-known ski resort in Romania: Poiana Brasov. Opened in 2005, the "Libearty" bear sanctuary is the largest animal welfare project in Europe, a corner of heaven for mistreated bears. The bears at the sanctuary have been rescued from a cruel and abusive life in captivity, with each bear having an impressive story. "Libearty" is currently home to over 130 bears, it is recognized as the most ethical sanctuary in the world, spread over 70 hectares of oak forest with trees where bears climb, with pools where bears swim , with adequate food according to veterinarians' diets.

A small group day tour to the impressive Rupea Fortress and to the epic Racos Geological Complex. The Quaternary basaltic eruptions from Persani Mountains area represent the last manifestations of volcanism in the Carpathian Mountains and form the "Basalt Triangle" (Racos - Rupea - Comana de Sus). The volcanic eruptions took place between 2 - 0.5 million years ago and the most important basalt outcrops are protected nowadays by the following geo-sites of national importance: Racos Geological Complex and Rupea Basaltic cliff. Today the Racos Geological Complex preserves the Quaternary basaltic volcanic eruptions from approximately 1.3 - 1.5 millions years ago that are visible today in the three quarries. Visit Brazi Basalt Quarrie where Brazi Lake started to form after the mining activities stopped, called by the locals the Emerald Lake. Continue to the Bazalt Columns Natural Monument. The basalt mining stopped in the 1960s, when the site was declared a natural monument.

We will start the tour with a hike through meadows and with spectacular views of the valleys that form Moieciu de Sus, Fundata, the Bucegi Natural Park and the Piatra Craiului National Park. Departure from Brasov. Visit Rupea Fortress- one of the medieval monuments that best survived the passing of the time in a region that was once in the frontlines of the Ottoman expansion towards Central Europe. Stop in Viscri. Here we visit the fortified church – a UNESCO site, the village blacksmith. Departure to Sighisoara and start a walking tour (aprox 1h30min) in the medieval center. Visit the Clock Tower, the most impressive tower. Next stop is The Vlad Dracul House, the place where Vlad Dracul (the father of Vlad the Impaler) once lived and where Vlad the Impeller was born. The Weapens Collection and the Torture Room is housed at the foot of the Clock Tower and is the same room where prisoners were tortured during the Middle Ages.
