Okonomiyaki Experience: Hiroshima-style & International Fusion Enjoy a unique culinary experience with a half-and-half plate of Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki and an international-inspired Okonomiyaki. Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki is characterized by its layered preparation on a griddle: a thin crepe-like batter topped with cabbage, bean sprouts, pork, yakisoba noodles, and an egg. It's a hearty and nutritious local favorite in Hiroshima, cherished for generations. This dish originated after World War II when food was scarce. Hiroshima residents ingeniously created it using affordable ingredients to satisfy their hunger. More than just a meal, it offered hope to citizens striving for recovery from desperate circumstances. Today, it's a soul food beloved by Hiroshima citizens, symbolizing the city's resilient spirit and culture. We developed this menu with the desire to make Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki more accessible and familiar to international visitors.

This is okonomiyaki, Hiroshima-style. No flames, no gimmicks, no shrimp tossed through the air. Just real food, real chefs, and a little bit of action if you want in on the fun. You’ll sit grill-side with a bilingual guide and a professional okonomiyaki chef, learning how this layered, savory pancake became a local staple. Choose from four different versions, including meat, seafood, vegetarian, and a gluten-free option (available by request). If you want to try your hand at cooking, the chef will guide you step by step. If you’d rather just relax and eat, that’s totally fine too. This is a small group experience at a real local restaurant, not a tourist trap, and you’ll leave full, happy, and maybe just a little proud of your creation. Okonomiyaki has long been a go-to meal in Japan, originally taking shape in the years after World War II when simple ingredients had to stretch far. These days, it’s still found everywhere from hole-in-the-wall counters to specialty restaurants.
