Around 7 in the morning you reach the Lejía lagoon, 1.9 km2 and 4,200 meters above sea level. Its waters are frozen during the winter months. Here a stop for breakfast is made observing the stunning landscape of the area, dominated by the Chiliques, Láscar, Aguas Calientes and Acamarachi volcanoes. It is not strange to run into vicuñas, flamingos and even gnomes that roam freely through the sector that remains virtually virgin. The ascent to the most active volcano, in the northern sector of our country, is one of the most famous and exciting challenges in Atacama. We start at dawn in the southeast direction to ride to the highlands, behind the line of mountains drawn from San Pedro. We have breakfast at Laguna Legia with a simply spectacular view of the Pili, Sinbad and Lascar volcanoes. A climb of between 3 and 4 hours, with a difference of 600 meters in less than 5 kilometers to reach the summit. F. Later we headed towards the South East (Cordillera de los Andes) to settle in a Socaire Altiplanic Town, we visited its Church and learned about its agriculture. Once installed in the cordon of the Andes we headed approx. At 4200 masl to meet the Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons. These lagoons belong to the R. N. Los F., characterized by volcanoes and mountainous reliefs such as the Miscanti hill and the Meñiques volcano. Both lagoons are born from groundwater from melting ice. Continuing along the slopes of the South Andes we head to the Salar de Talar Touristically known as Piedras Rojas, where the rocks are subjected to natural oxidation and weathering.
